Port Alberni City Council Erects Log Barrier in Chamber Room

Safety issues by City Council members necessitated erecting a new wooden log-type partition in City Council Chambers this May of 2024.

The structure limits access from taxpayers to enter into close contact with council members.

When asked if Council members ever felt frightened from a community member, Councillor  Debbie Haggard said, “She now parks her car under a street light and sometimes asks for assistance to her car after council meetings.”
